Factfulness: Ten Reasons We’re Wrong About the World—and Why Things are Better Than You Think

Flatiron Books 2018
Hans Rosling

We recommend both the printed version and audiobook (Blackstone Audio, Inc.).

Bill Gates has proclaimed this, “One of the most important books I’ve ever read—an indispensable guide to thinking clearly about the world."

This book is so important because it puts the reader in the position of questioning instincts that lead to untenable decisions; this gives one the opportunity to bring a voice of reason to the table. Rosling provides 10 instincts that cause even the smartest amongst us to get the state of the world wrong. The examples and the proof of these concepts are riveting; you will never view your immediate neighborhood, community, city, state, country, or the entire world the same again.

We will say that we do not concur with Rosling’s characterization of Rachel Carson’s work.

That is our only negative critique. The graphs, illustrations, and all the other presentations of facts are eye-opening. We also highly encourage the reader to please not skip the introduction. It is invaluable. The Appendix, Notes, and Income Level illustrations are also valuable for expanding and resetting one’s worldview.
