Biography

Dr. Manuela Glass serves as a Co-Author for the SDG8 Corporate Guidebook and for the SDG12 Guidebook. She is a New York City based sustainable business consultant and an independent advisor for a German-US think tank. Manuela specializes in business ethics, CSR, and the SDGs. She has more than 10 years of experience on sustainability topics, gained in Germany, Mongolia, and the United States.
Manuela has worked with companies from a variety of sectors, including multinationals from the chemical, automotive, banking, manufacturing, and tech industry. Her focus is on responsible business in the era of digitalization, decent work, human rights in supply chains, and measuring of impact in the context of corporate reporting.
She is experienced in multi-stakeholder formats bringing together private sector, public, and civil society representatives. Manuela managed a German private sector initiative with the aim of promoting sustainable business and better collaboration among stakeholders. She also co-developed leadership seminars for young managers on business ethics and societal dialogue.
In Uganda, she contributed to developing a Code of Business Ethics for the manufacturing industry. In Mongolia, Manuela consulted a multi-industry private sector initiative with the aim of implementing international sustainability and reporting standards and fostering public-private sector dialogue. She frequently represented the initiative at UN meetings and initiated a Mongolian private sector digital platform on the SDGs.
Manuela is also the Co-Founder of a Germany-based organization that develops innovative learning and training formats of international cooperation and of sustainable business promotion in developing countries. She has published reports on the role of the private sector for achieving the Global Goals and frequently presents research at international conferences.
Manuela studied political science and administrative law in Germany, France, and Poland. She holds a LL.M. in European Law, as well as a PhD in political science, focusing on normative power and the economic and societal integration of minorities in Eastern Europe and the Western Balkans. She is a member of professional CSR and sustainability networks in Europe and the USA and an alumnus of Harvard Business School Online. In her free time, she enjoys touring the US with her family.
